So I was talking to ɤWeapongod the other day and the topic somehow turned to Celtic knots, so I decided I would post them up here to show him. Being the obsessor I am about Ireland, I generally know some of the significance behind some Celtic knot work, so I decided I'd share my wisdom (well, honestly, it's more knowledge than actual wisdom >.>) with all of you.
Celtic Cross

The Celtic cross has some of the most obvious symbolism out of all the knots. Now used to symbolize the Christian cross, it actually developed from the ancient Celtic market cross. Market crosses lacked the cross beam and also had a round ball set at the top of the pillar and a square stepped base at the bottom. The ball then represented the heavens, the base represents our world (earth), and the pillar represented the link an barrier between the two.
Trinity Knot (caution: major religion references)

The Celtic Trinity knot is the standard stereotype when it comes to Celtic knots. It consists of three leaf edges separated equally. In it's basic form it represents the whole of the holy trinity: the father, the son, and the holy spirit. A ring (as seen in picture one) signifies the infinite nature of God, that he never begins or ends. Either doubling the knot itself (picture two) or the ring (picture three) is done to signify the dual nature of Jesus, both fully human and fully divine. Ultimately, the versatility of the trinity knot can lead to some interesting mutations (picture four).
Lover's Knot

The final knot I have for you is the lover's knot, which is actually a misnomer. The lover's knot actually has no name, but when I learned how to do knots my teacher called it the lover's knot so I just follow the tradition. This knot doesn't have any modern meanings, but is very common in places such as the Book of Kells.

Master Chief dies at the end of H3? Big Deal. When I was playing he died like a hundred times...it never seemed to slow him down before.
