Intro
================================================================
Guitar Hero 3 is the third (obviously) installment of the Guitar Hero Series, and was developed by NeverSoft rather than Harmonix, who did the previous games. It is good, and has a nice mix of songs to play.
Graphics 8|10
================================================================
The game does not need graphics to do what it does, and since hd screens can have lag, having an hd tv can actually hurt your performance on this game, although luckily it does have the ability to calibrate both sound and graphics lag. Overall, the style is good, and helps the game more than anything.
Sound 8|10
================================================================
One would hope that the sound on a music simulation game would be good, and Guitar Hero 3 follows this. While it doesn't have the same number of awesome songs that 2 did, it still had enough that it was fun to play, with song's from groups such as Heart, Alice Cooper, Guns 'n Roses, and multiple foreign bands. Overall, the music in the game was very good.
Controls 7|10
================================================================
The Guitar Hero games use both a guitar controller and a regular controller. The controls are simple to learn, but the necessary skills to be good at it are harder to master. One of the problems with Guitar Hero 3 was that the wireless controller that came with it had problems with the connection from the neck to the body, and that hurt it's reliability and controls.
Story 8|10
================================================================
While this game doesn't explicitly rely or use a story, it does sort of have a story if you read the chapter titles about a band growing, breaking up, rejoining, and eventually battling the Devil for the crown as the best. Simple, but still good.
Fun 9|10
================================================================
This game was very fun, whether alone or with a friend. The songs are great, so playing them enjoyable, and there is always to beat that one hard song on expert. For multiplayer, a new mode called battle was added where you get powerups instead of star power and you can use those powerups against your opponent (or one of the three bosses you encounter during the campaign). In addition, the coop and face off modes are also fun ways to play with multiple people. The only problem was that online coop could have had a better implementation, but it wasn't too detrimental.
Replay 10|10
================================================================
This game was extremely replayable. From the good songs to the enjoyable experience and playing this at parties with friends, it is a very enjoyable game that will be played until the next installment of the series (and even longer).
